Business System Analyst
Job Overview
- Work with senior management to identify and analyze IT business needs in areas (but not limited to) Finance, HR and eCommerce
- Help develop, implement and support business analytics for the overall company
- Help ensure data integrity across business units
- Participate in strategic projects that support the growth of business
Responsibilities
- Translate high-level business requirements into functional specifications and ensure that deliverables conform with these requirements.
- Document processes or procedures, create testing documentation, and create specifications or proposals.
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of applications
- Develop functional specifications and research potential vendors
- Identify areas to increase efficiency and automation of processes
- Act as a liaison between stakeholders and programmers throughout solutions development process
- Design custom reports to enable users to maximize the potential of systems at their disposal as management and decision-making tools.
- Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize efficiency
- Manipulate and compile data sets into comprehensive reports and dashboards.
Requirements / Competencies
- University degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Familiarity with: Windows, iSeries (AS/400) , Web Applications, Cloud Technology, Databases (structured and non-structured), Data Analytics
- 2-5 years of relevant experience within retail or manufacturing in a role with IT systems or business analysis including (but not limited to):
- Analysis and design of corporate systems
- Creating business and functional requirements
- Working with internal and external partners on business and IT projects
- Translating users’ requirements into highly specified projects briefs
- Understanding solutions development lifecycle
- Working closely with colleagues and testers to ensure solutions conform to needs
- Developing test scenarios and testing scripts and conducting them
- Analytical skills, critical thinking, attention to detail
