Product Development Engineer

Job Summary:

Reporting to the VP of Sourcing with support from Montreal Plant Manager, the Product Development Engineer will serve as a vital member of our development and manufacturing team responsible for fabricating and delivering custom-made blinds and shades within BTG’s legendary 48-hour service commitment. You will work with our merchandising and material planners to deliver competitive products that provide our customers with the functionality and designs they want. Key Requirements:

• BS/MS in Engineering, Mechanical or Industrial preferred
• 4-8 years of relevant work experience, including product development, engineering, and product sourcing
• Experience in consumer products desirable
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong project management skills
• Result-oriented.
• Hands on and willing to work with the manufacturing team on projects and processes
• Strong background with hard window treatments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with merchandising and material planners to identify key product needs
• Work with suppliers to develop and test new products
• Identify key technical issues with current products and work with suppliers to improve performance
• Develop in-house tests that simulate product use and anticipate product problems prior to market introduction
• Work with manufacturing to introduce new products into production

We will set-up the new hire for success by having him/her work in our showrooms as part of his/her orientation to understand products, selling features and develop relationships within our organization.
